Day weekend in the Chicago area is going to be a huge one for wrestling
fans. Obviously with Dragon Gate USA coming to the Congress Theater
on 9/6 many fans from all over the country will be converging on the
Windy City. The night before the big DGUSA show, AAW: Professional Wrestling
Redefined will also be holding a big event just outside of Chicago at
the Berwyn Eagles Club. This makes for a perfect opportunity to check
out one of the Midwest's hottest companies on a night they showcase
not only their own top talent, but also some of the stars of Dragon
Gate USA. Go to www.AAWrestling.com
for all the info on AAW including a roster page, store with DVDs, upcoming
events info and more.
AAW
is now into it's sixth year of promoting top notch shows featuring a
mix of the best upcoming talent in the Midwest and top indy stars. AAW
has always set itself apart with it's high quality production. Although
the Eagles Club is an intimate venue with a capacity of only 250 seats
for a wrestling show you still experience the "big event"
vibe that you would in a larger venue. A video screen above the entrance
way features promos between matches keeping the show fast paced and
getting fans who may not be familiar with the product up to speed with
what the talent and stories are all about. Add in professional lighting
and sound and you get a show with a different vibe than your run-of-the-mill
indy wrestling event.
"AAW was the obvious choice when we were looking for a partner
with Dragon Gate USA," DGUSA VP Gabe Sapolsky said. "Their
production is really a step above and makes them stand out. They are
a very professionally run company and that shows in the ring and in
their strong, local following. All the talent on the show serve a purpose
and the booking is really well done. They provide a great night of good,
solid professional wrestling and do so on a consistent basis."
Let's
talk briefly about the talent that will be showcased on 9/5. AAW is
pleased to welcome Bryan Danielson, as he makes his debut against one
of the top singles competitors on the roster in Silas Young. Fans may
know Silas from his recent work in ROH and he has been one of the staples
of AAW throughout the years having memorable matches with Jimmy Jacobs,
Tyler Black and Josh Raymond among others. Silas has recently set his
sights on the AAW Heavyweight title, currently held by former WWE star
Jay Bradley. Obviously, this match against Bryan Danielson will be the
biggest of Silas Young's career as he tests his skills against a man
considered by many to be the best wrestler in the world.
Also
on the card is a six man tag match as the AAW Heritage Champion Arik
Cannon teams with The Northstar Express (Darrin Corbin/Ryan Cruz) as
they take on CHIKARA stars Gran Akuma, Jigsaw and Hallowicked. Cannon
and the NSE have been a unit in AAW since their debut in 2007 and are
undefeated in AAW in six man matches. The issues between Gran Akuma
and Jigsaw/Hallowicked are well documented and one has to wonder if
they can co-exist in this match that is sure to feature plenty of fast
paced action.
On
top of all this, also featured will be a clash of FRAY! Competitors
when Johhny Gargano and Shiima Xion both return to AAW and face off
in one-on-one action. The highly touted team of The Young Bucks also
make their debut and all of the top teams in AAW (The Phoenix Twins,
Faith in Nothing, The House of Truth) are petitioning for that match.
AAW Heavyweight Champion Jay Bradley will also be defending the top
prize in AAW on this huge night as AAW kicks off a tremendous weekend
of wrestling. You won't find a better show in the area for the affordable
price of $15.00 front row, $10 general admission.
"I'm really looking forward to attending the September 5th event,"
Sapolsky said. "They have some really interesting match ups that
you won't see anywhere else and it is a great place for new talent to
shine. They have a really nice mix of veterans, upcomers and independent
standouts. I really look forward to watching AAW DVDs as they have a
great flow and build from match-to-match and show-to-show. Now I'm looking
forward to seeing AAW live."
Come
on out to Berwyn on Saturday 9/5 and see first hand why AAW is Professional
Wrestling Redefined! Tickets are now available in the events section
at www.AAWrestling.com.
